There’s no best time if you’re ready to commit to the time and effort involved with home improvement projects, but there are certain times of the year that can be more beneficial depending on the type of project and your budget.
October – December
can net potential savings
If you don’t mind having contractors in your home during the holiday season, this can be a great way to save money as business is generally slower for contractors and materials may be less expensive. However, shipping may take longer, so take that into consideration.
January – March
are ideal conditions for additions
A cold ground and dry air are ideal conditions for digging foundations and pouring concrete footers. Additionally, this provides more time to get the addition framed and under cover before the unpredictable and rainy spring season. And you may still be able to take advantage of savings while most homeowners are waiting for spring and tax refunds to tackle their projects.
April – June
months are best for outdoor projects
Schedule early and be prepared to pay more when starting projects during the height of home building season. However, projects like decks, patios and outdoor kitchens are good to plan for this timeframe as the ground is soft and you’ll be able to enjoy the space come summer and fall.
July – September
months are best for indoor projects
Tackling indoor jobs like kitchen or bathroom projects is ideal during the summer months when air conditioning is available. Additionally, planning your summer vacation during the remodel will help you avoid some of the inconvenience and disruption home remodels cause.
